Practically speaking, the generator is supplying energy to keep the electric motor running. The motor has not changed at all whether the power is from a battery or from the gasoline generator. I would be interested if you could quantify a difference. For example, put the car in sport mode and go 0-40 with and without the gasoline generator. I bet the numbers will be virtually the same.
